Unidentified criminals abducted nine villagers from Bandukbhanga area in Rangamati Sadar upazila Wednesday morning.
The motive behind the kidnapping remained unclear. The identity of the victim was not known immediately.
The criminals waylaid the victim's engine-driven boat on way to Rangamati town and made them hostage at Lorichharamukh area around 7:30am and took them to an unknown place, reports our Rangamati correspondent quoting Barun Kumar Chakma, chairman of Bandukbhanga Union Parishad.
Md Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the kidnapping but could not provide detail of it.
The abductees were untraced at 2:00pm when this report was filed.
